Julie Black, LPC
Supervisor: Stephen Dunleavey, LPCC-S
Julie comes to Renew from Ashland Theological Seminary for her Clinical Counseling practicum and internship. She is passionate about walking alongside individuals and couples to nurture holistic healing and informed, authentic choices. Julie has a Master of Science degree in special education and taught for five years in rural and inner-city settings. She has over 25 years of ministry experience serving alongside her husband in both civilian and military contexts.
Julie's Story
Life is never boring should be Julie’s motto based on the many places and spaces she has lived and served. North, South, East, West, military, civilian, ministry, and secular, she’s experienced them all. These adventures have given her a love and respect for many cultures and communities.
Her journey as a clinician began with her own experience in counseling. Out of that healing came a growing desire to help others as she was helped. She is passionate about aiding others to experience holistic healing and to live authentically out of the unique and masterful creation that each of us is. She believes everyone is worthy of love, respect, and second chances.
When not counseling, you can find her with her family or behind the pages of a good book. She loves great conversation, a good cup of coffee, the beauty of God’s creation, the smell of books, and strategic board games.
